THE OPPORTUNITY AT THE AKRON AREA YMCAThis is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, mission‑driven leader to make continuous impact within our YMCA association. The Akron Area YMCA serves a diverse community, helping all people reach their full potential in spirit, mind, and body.
The President and CEO provides visionary and strategic leadership to ensure mission impact, operational excellence, community relevance, and financial sustainability are attained. As the face of the organization this leader will partner with the Board of Directors, staff, philanthropic partners, and community leaders to strengthen our Y’s presence and relevance.
This leader will inspire and empower the team to be committed to our mission and values as we create a welcoming place for all.

- Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan: Work effectively with volunteers, community leaders, and key staff to create and develop a strategic plan that addresses the needs of the communities served by the Y. The plan includes defined organizational strategies, a clear implementation plan with deliverables, and measurable goals.

Create a learning organization to help staff achieve their highest potential.

Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct the Y’s operations and activities.

Ensure the Y is seen as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other.

Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Develop and implement stewardship strategies.

The Akron Area YMCA, founded in 1870, serves Summit, Medina, and Portage counties through six membership branches, five child‑care locations, and two day/residential camps.
