Position Overview

The Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer is part of the corporate engineering team and will be based at one of several plant locations, including:

  • Monroe, OH
  • Jackson, TN
  • Somerset, KY
  • Valparaiso, IN

This role will lead continuous improvement initiatives at the plant level while also supporting new product launch activities. The position serves as a key resource for training, sustaining improvements, and driving best practices across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
  • Lead and support kaizen events, including:
    • Cycle time analysis
    • Problem-solving and brainstorming
    • Standard work development
    • Setup reduction
    • 5S and visual management
    • Error-proofing
  • Coach, train, and mentor plant teams on Lean / CI principles
  • Drive best practice standardization across multiple facilities
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency using:
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Six Sigma
    • Kaizen methodologies
  • Maintain CI procedures and standards
  • Support product launches to ensure KPI targets are met at start of production (SOP), including:
    • Labor efficiency
    • Cycle time / throughput
    • Scrap reduction
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking launch performance
  • Create clear work instructions and sustainable process improvements
  • Support engineering activities such as:
    • Process layouts
    • Safety and environmental analysis
    • PFMEA and trial reports
  • Provide feedback to engineering leadership on tooling and equipment improvements
  • Promote safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–8 years of experience in continuous improvement within manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Continuous Improvement / TPS principles
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor teams
  • High technical aptitude with strong understanding of manufacturing systems and processes
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • AutoCAD or similar design software
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 50% travel required
