The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Communications and Mulitmedia Specialist, Job Code 354, TS 522 (260 Days). Salary TBD. Collective Bargaining Unit
- None. This is a School Employees Retirement System position.

Responsibilities and

Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

  • Develop and create digital media for use with internal and external communications in order to support the district's mission and strategic plan.
  • Creation of copy for use with internal and external communications.
  • Writing, reviewing, editing, and updating content for district communications.
  • Conduct research and interviews as necessary to develop copy for use in communication projects.
  • Collaborate with translation services to ensure messages are translated to required languages for print, web publication, and other media sources as required.
  • Assist in the planning, development, creation, and dissemination of district communication materials, including newsletters, brochures, electronic flyers, style guides, website content and social media.
  • Create, update, and disseminate digital media for district and public information purposes.
  • Attend meetings, programs and events to develop material for us on district websites, newsletters, social media, and other media platforms.
  • Ensure district and school websites and other digital content is current.
  • Assist with writing, layout, editing and/or coordination of content for publication of district communications, social media publications, feature articles, and district-wide announcements.
  • Assist in the graphic layout and design of website content; assist in maintaining content on district webpages, social media channels and other digital media tools.
  • Create and manage social media content.
  • Create and edit text, graphics, animation, audio, and video files and place on web servers; convert files between various formats, including word processing, spreadsheet, Adobe, audio and video, and HTML.
  • Stay current in technologies related to web-page design, graphic arts, and multimedia.
  • Ensure that materials produced by the department follow district brand standards.
  • Develop time lines for projects. Ensure delivery of copy by established deadlines.
  • Works under the direction of the Assistant Director, Communications.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Implements the policies established by federal and state laws, Department of Education rules, and local board policy in the area assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or other related field, or an equivalent combination education and/or experience.
  • 3 years of experience with development and execution of digital marketing and communications including social media platforms and marketing analytics.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • The capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working with a public school district.
  • Prior experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Google and Hubspot.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
