Advanced Practice Nurse/APRN, Nurse Practitioner
Unity Health Network, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking an Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) to join the Department of Neurology & Neuroscience in Akron, OH.
As a member of the Optum Care Delivery team, you will play a key role in improving patient care by providing clinical resources, data, and support from a global organization.
Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities- Outpatient neurology with minimal call and light rounding
- Comprehensive Neuroscience Center located in West Akron, OH
- Large referring base supported by the Optum Centers of Excellence network
- Full‑time (1.0 FTE), 40 hours per week
- Opportunities for growth, leadership, and teaching when available
- Practice team: 6‑8 clinicians (Physicians and Advanced Practitioners)
- Ancillary services include Sleep, Neuro Diagnostics, Infusion, and Neuro Psych
- Team‑based approach to value‑based care and patient outcomes
- Orders lab studies and imaging when indicated; identifies differential diagnosis and assesses illness severity to determine need and timing of evaluation
- Consults with other health team members regarding treatment guidelines; implements plans safely and effectively; prioritizes patient care and records visits concisely
- Develops and provides educational materials and programs to patients, families, and healthcare professionals

Required Qualifications- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Current Ohio state license to practice (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner through ANCC/AANP (or ability to obtain)
- DEA license for Ohio (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in nursing care or related medical care
- 1‑3+ years of experience as an Advanced Practitioner within Neurology
- Experience working in a team‑based model of care
- Fluency with EMR systems and technology
- Experience in Neuro, Sleep Medicine, and/or Movement Disorders
- Comfortable with decision‑making, care‑plan creation, and role designation
The salary range for this role is $109,500 to $164,000 annually for full‑time employment. Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, experience, certifications, and other considerations. United Health Group complies with applicable minimum wage laws.
