RN – H6 Post‑Surgical Progressive Care Unit
Full‑Time, 36 hrs/week. Nights: 7 pm–7:30 am, every other weekend/holiday.
Primary Patient PopulationOrthopedic, bariatric, neuro‑spine, cardiothoracic, and trauma patients post‑surgery.
Unit InformationUnit size: 36 beds. Target nurse‑to‑patient ratio: 1:4 (subject to change based on census and patient needs).

Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho‑social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates, and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, families, and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining, and restoring optimum health.
FormalEducation Required
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN). Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of employment.
- Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
- Current state of Ohio RN license.
- PRN RN’s must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice.
- One year of related RN experience required for weekend option positions.
- Additional related experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units.
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Working under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment.
- Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. All nurses new to critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first six months and maintain it. RNs with ACLS are expected to hold a valid certification upon hire or complete it within six weeks.
- Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention).
- Ability to effectively interact with diverse patient populations, respecting self‑respect, dignity, and diversity.
- Heavy:
Exerts 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25–50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10–20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
