Summary: Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities such as direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and administrative/clerical support.

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor’s degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.
• Nursing Student Tech (NST) Conditions of Eligibility:
  • An employee may remain in the NST position post‑graduation and pre‑licensure up to six (6) months after which eligibility to stay employed as an NST ceases.

  • Must complete Summa’s orientation.
  • Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter.

  • Ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions, and perform basic mathematical functions.

• Level of Physical Demands:
  • Heavy:
    Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25‑50 pounds frequently, or 10‑20 pounds continuously to move objects.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, and sharps with associated risks of falls, strains, and contagious diseases.
