Description:

32 hours/week. 7a-3:30p. Could be on call on rotating weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Delivers excellent quality care to the patients and families through the nursing process and anticipating the patients, families, physicians and other members of the cardiac clinical team.
• Develops advanced level of knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology in relation to cardio-thoracic surgery, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiac catheterization as well as electrophysiology study, ablation and pacemaker/defibrillator insertion.
• Provides pre-procedure assessment for outpatients scheduled in the Cath Lab and serve in the scrubbing and circulating role in both the cardiac OR and Cath Lab.
• Takes call that is shared equally among the other department Nurse Clinicians.
• Additional responsibilities include assisting in other clinical areas within the Heart Center, research and maintaining databases, teaching, program development and other administrative functions in order to further the mission and vision of the Heart Center.
• Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise:

• Proficiency with equipment and supplies used in cardiac invasive procedures is required.
• Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Epic EMR experience preferred.

Education and Experience:

• Education:
  
  BSN required. MSN preferred.
• Certification:
  Registered Nurse licensure. Pediatric Advanced Life Support provider required. Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider required.
• OR Nursing experience required.
• Years of experience:
  Two (2) years pediatric cardiovascular nursing experience preferred.
• Years of experience supervising:
  None

• OH license required at time of submission no exceptions

• Float requirements all travelers will float to competent units
• Copy of certifications are not required for submission
• EPIC charting experience preferred but not required
• Background Policy to be noted prior to submission client typically approves BG hits
• Return Staff Policy Akron will consider prior employees to return as travelers as long as they are not currently active employees
• Magnet Facility BSN is required for consideration
• Facility has a strict DO NOT call policy
