Position: Travel Nurse RN - NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care - $1,693 per week

Travel Nurse RN – NICU

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a travel nurse Registered Nurse for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) assignment in Akron, Ohio.

Job Summary: Provide specialized neonatal care in a NICU setting, collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, and support families while maintaining high standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Essential Work Functions
  • Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns, identifying changes and documenting conditions and responses.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved neonatal nursing techniques.
  • Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and specialized neonatal screenings.
  • Operate and manage advanced NICU equipment, such as ventilators, CPAP machines, and infusion pumps, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Assist with life‑saving and diagnostic neonatal procedures, including umbilical line placement and intubation.
  • Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for neonates in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Adhere to infection control measures, including hand hygiene, PPE use, and sterilization protocols, to protect vulnerable neonates.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including neonatologists and therapists, to optimize neonatal outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as an RN in a neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC‑NIC).
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification.
  • Other certifications and licenses as required for the position.

  • PC literacy and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
