Job Title
RN 4 North Medical Unit
Work Schedule & LocationFull Time – 36 hours per week (7:00 AM–7:30 PM).
Location:
Summa Health Systems – Akron Campus.
Medical Unit, blended acuity with a focus on cardiac telemetry. 30 beds, target nurse‑to‑patient ratio 1:5 to 1:6 (subject to change).

Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho‑social sciences, the RN delivers evidence‑based nursing care, coordinates and delegations, and manages resources to provide optimal health for patients, families, and the community.
Formal Education Required- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but must obtain a BSN within 3 years of employment.
Experience and Training Required- At least one year of recent RN experience in the area of practice.
- One year of related RN experience required for weekend option positions.
- Additional related experience or preparation may be required for specialty units.
- Full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and other hazardous conditions typical of a clinical environment.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. New nurses in critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first six months and maintain certification.
- Ability to effectively interact with diverse patient populations, respecting self‑respect, dignity, and diversity.
- Additional education or certifications (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention) may be required for specialty areas.
- Heavy – Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, 25‑50 pounds frequently, or 10‑20 pounds continuously to move objects.
Salary range: $33.75 per hour – $53.00 per hour (base salary only; bonuses and differentials not included).
