Assistant Nurse Manager

Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in daily unit operations and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery on a 24-hour basis. The Assistant Nurse Manager also facilitates the development and evaluation of nursing staff and provides nursing care using specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills.

• Contributes as a key member of management by understanding business operations, financials, industry trends, and customer needs.
• Develops and guides nursing staff by providing direction, coaching, training, and performance management to meet organizational goals.
• Monitors and adheres to department budget to ensure effective expenditure control.
• Assists Nurse Manager in maintaining operational efficiency of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services.
• Promotes nursing philosophy and objectives by assisting the Nurse Manager in educational initiatives and research efforts.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience in clinical pediatrics is required; clinical experience in assigned area is preferred.
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships which enhance communication, promote conflict resolution and facilitate staff development.
• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Epic software or similar EMR software is required.

• Education:
  
  Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing;
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required;
  Master's degree (MSN) or another field (MBA, MPH, MHA, etc.) is preferred.
• Licensure:
  Currently licensed to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio is required.
• Certification:
  Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association is required.
• If assigned to general care units, PEARS is required.
• If assigned to critical care units, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and/or NRP is required.
• If assigned to ED, Surgical Services, Sedation Services, Transitional Care/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and Transport, within 1 year of date of hire PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and/or NRP is required.
• Relevant professional nursing certification, preferred.
• Years of relevant experience:
  Minimum 4 years of nursing experience required.
• Years of supervisory experience: 1 year in a leadership role or similar position preferred.
