About This Role

As a Research Nurse for the Cancer Center at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital, you will assist with the implementation and conduct of human subject research projects, ensuring adherence to research protocol requirements while providing patient-centered care.

• Assist with coordinating the implementation and conduct of research projects ensuring adherence to research protocol requirements.
• Complete and communicate regulatory documents, develop data capture and monitoring plans, and report serious adverse events as they occur.
• Serve as a liaison between investigators, research personnel, outside study personnel, and central research administration offices.
• Utilize the nursing process as a basis for patient care.
• Assess research subjects, complete nursing assessments, document findings, and notify the physician of abnormal findings.
• Establish a care plan in collaboration with the research subject, family, and research team.
• Identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning as appropriate.
• Perform telephone triage, nursing procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP.
• Conduct and document the informed consent process.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience:

• 2+ years of clinical experience
• Prior experience in oncology research or clinical trials preferred

Licenses &

Certifications:

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certification in Human Subjects Research within 90 days of hire
• Cancer-specific certification preferred for those working in oncology
