About This Role

The PRN Psychiatric Triage RN at Cleveland Clinic Akron General provides direct nursing care to psychiatric patients, supporting their recovery processes in a collaborative environment. This role is ideal for compassionate nurses who thrive in a dynamic and patient-centered setting.

• Location: Akron, OH
• Schedule: Per Diem, Day shift

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a given patient population.
• Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and respond appropriately.
• Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care, and serve as a patient advocate.
• Administer treatments and medication.
• Participate in the ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and quality improvement processes.
• Delegate tasks/assignments and serve as a resource person.
• Complete psychiatric core curriculum and Managing Disruptive Behavior Training within six months of hire.
• Triage psychiatric patients that present to the ED and complete medical screening examination forms.
• Consult on managing disruptive behavior and restraint issues, assess patients for suicide and elopement risk.

• Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program) required
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience:
  • 5 years of nursing experience if assigned to ED Triage primarily
  • 3 years of inpatient psychiatric experience preferred
• Licenses &

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
