DescriptionThe Humane Society of Summit County is accepting applications for part-time and full-time Veterinary Assistant positions. This person will provide support to the Shelter and MABEL (mobile veterinary unit) Veterinarian and staff with a variety of duties and animal care tasks. The primary role of this position will be assisting in surgeries, medical clean-up and daily medication of animals. Other responsibilities this job will have is assisting with blood draws, vaccinations, performing fecal and urinalysis, euthanasia and other associated tasks under the direction of the Shelter and MABEL (mobile veterinary unit) Veterinarian.

HoursPart-time to full-time hours available. The schedule may vary week to week.
Weekend Availability is required. Holiday coverage will be necessary but will rotate through medical team.
Position Requirements Requirements- Must be 18 years old or older to apply
- Have at least 1 year of work experience in related field.
- Euthanasia certification (training provided).
High School diploma or Equivalent
Successful candidates will pose the following qualities:
- Positive attitude.
- Must have a passion for working with animals.
- Must be able to handle physical demanding work.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with animals, cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Knowledge of animal breeds, behavior, handling and safe restraint methods.
- Ability to read, write, understand and follow instructions.
