Summary of PositionProvides leadership, operational oversight, and scientific direction for a centralized research support core within the Research, Sponsored Programs, and Innovation division of an acute care hospital. The DISCOVER Center delivers system-wide, comprehensive, end-to-end support for investigator-initiated research, guiding projects from initial concept and protocol development through study execution, analysis, dissemination, and publication.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership, operational oversight, and scientific direction for a centralized research support core.
- Guide investigator-initiated research projects from concept to publication.
- Oversee a team of clinical research scientists and statisticians, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and scientifically rigorous support services.
- Promote the DISCOVER Center’s mission of advancing well-designed, reproducible, ethically sound research that advances the system’s Health Assurance strategy and improves clinical care outcomes across the continuum of care.
- Formal education:
PhD or MD/DO required. - Five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical research, translational research, health services research, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising research professionals.
- Demonstrated experience in study design, protocol development, scientific methods, and interpretation of research data.
- Experience supporting investigator-initiated research from concept development through publication.
- Knowledge of IRB processes, human subjects protections, research ethics, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management experience, managing multiple projects and establishing priorities.
- Knowledge of FDA, GCP, HIPAA, and institutional policies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, statistical and data analysis tools (REDCap, SAS, R), and Epic electronic health records (Slicer Dicer, Cosmos).
- Working knowledge of AI applications and ethical use.
- Medium:
Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects. - Frequent walking and/or standing.

Salary: $49.78/hr - $74.68/hr
