Position: Analytical Chemist (NMR Specialist)

Airswift is seeking a highly skilled NMR Specialist (Analytical Chemist) with a Ph.D. and deep expertise in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

About the Role

In this role, you will lead the operation, maintenance, and strategic utilization of a 400 MHz Bruker NMR system, ensure optimal performance while delivering advanced analytical insights that support multiple R&D programs. You will play a critical role in method development, structural elucidation, and cross-functional collaboration across research, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical owner of the 400 MHz Bruker NMR, ensuring reliability, performance, and routine maintenance
  • Develop and optimize 1D and 2D NMR methods (¹H, ¹³C, DEPT, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, NOESY, DOSY, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot instrument issues and coordinate service support with Bruker as needed
  • Train and mentor scientists on sample preparation, experiment setup, and data interpretation
  • Establish best practices for data quality, queue management, and method standardization
  • Identify opportunities to increase throughput and expand experimental capabilities
  • Perform structural elucidation, impurity analysis, and molecular characterization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, process engineering, and quality
  • Provide rapid-response analytical support to manufacturing sites
  • Document results, prepare technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders
  • Partner with senior analytical chemists to support a broader suite of analytical techniques
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field
  • 1–2 years of hands‑on experience operating and maintaining a research‑grade NMR spectrometer
  • Expertise in NMR method development, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Preferred Skills
  • 5+ years of hands‑on NMR ownership in a research or industrial setting
  • Experience supporting industrial R&D, particularly in organic, polymer, or materials chemistry
  • Familiarity with complementary analytical techniques, including: DSC, TGA, GPC/SEC, FTIR, Raman, LC/MS, GC/MS, Field‑flow fractionation
