Research Scientist
Job Title
Plan and conduct experiments; design, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory reactors, plasma systems, and experimental apparatus; document results; and follow laboratory safety requirements.
Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot FTIR, UV-Vis, XRF, mass spectrometry, and related analytical instrumentation; interpret data.
Develop research concepts and preliminary results into proposals for federal, state, and industrial sponsors; prepare publications, and contribute to new externally funded and follow-on projects.
Support technology development through prototype fabrication and testing, intellectual property documentation.
Provide technical guidance to graduate and undergraduate.
EducationPh.D. or Doctor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline.
ExperienceRequires 2 years of demonstrated experience in experimental research, construction and troubleshooting of laboratory systems, analytical instrumentation. Experience with FTIR, DRIFT, ATR, UV-Vis, XRF, mass spectrometry is required. Prior work, lab and/or research experience will coincide with specific project/grant. Working knowledge of laboratory practices and safety regulations required. Ability to instruct and/or supervise students required.
LeadershipProvide technical guidance and training to graduate and undergraduate students in experimental methods, instrumentation, laboratory safety, and data analysis.
CompensationThe annual compensation for this position is $44,100
