This role is critical to ensuring that every meal served meets Chick-fil-A’s high standards for quality, accuracy, and speed all while developing and supporting team members.
The
BOH Shift Leader
oversees kitchen operations during assigned shifts. They ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently, and according to Chick-fil-A standards. This leader directs team members, maintains organization, ensures cleanliness, and helps the kitchen operate smoothly and effectively. They model servant leadership by supporting their team, solving problems, and maintaining a positive, encouraging atmosphere under pressure.

- Lead BOH operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficiency, quality, and food safety.
- Maintain proper food presentation, portioning, and temperature standards.
- Coordinate kitchen flow to meet speed of service and throughput goals.
- Ensure accurate and timely food preparation for both front counter and drive-thru.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring readiness for the next shift.
- Monitor food inventory and communicate needs to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all Chick-fil-A operational standards and procedures.
- Lead, coach, and encourage BOH Team Members to perform at their best.
- Train team members on food safety, equipment usage, and efficiency techniques.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
- Provide real-time feedback and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Support onboarding and skill development of new hires.
- Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation standards are upheld.
- Maintain clean and organized kitchen areas, prep stations, and storage spaces.
- Follow all local and Chick-fil-A food safety protocols.
- Oversee daily and weekly cleaning checklists.
- Communicate clearly with the Front of House and leadership to ensure seamless operations.
- Address issues calmly and quickly, maintaining a positive tone under pressure.
- Provide timely feedback and report shift performance or concerns to leadership.
- Prior experience in kitchen operations, food preparation, or restaurant leadership.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen organization.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to consistent performance.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Alignment with Chick-fil-A’s mission and values of servant leadership, integrity, and excellence.
- Experience as a Chick-fil-A Team Leader or Shift Leader (or equivalent).
- Calm under pressure with a problem-solving mindset.
- Passion for developing people and maintaining high standards.
- Proactive and detail-oriented leader who leads by example.
