Facilities Maintenance Technician Shift: 2nd Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical focus to join our team. This role operates on the 2nd shift and offers a contract-to-hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of various mechanical devices, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain fork trucks.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate, oil, and clean equipment per manufacturing specifications.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Assist in repairs of electrical equipment.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment.
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and building equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Replace electric motor bearings, align, shim motors, and re‑build pumps and motors.
  • Assist in planning layouts of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic components of machine and building equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain, organize, and control inventory supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Clean and organize shop area.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and material.
  • Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in shop math.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Skills in electrical troubleshooting, mechanical, blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, plumbing, welding, building maintenance, lighting, and HVAC.
  • Forklift operation is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60,320.00 - $64,480.00/hr.
