Maintenance Technician / Journeyman – Performance Chemicals, Akron

This position is responsible for maintaining daily operation of equipment and preventive maintenance on process and facility systems. The technician will perform emergency repairs, install new equipment, and inspects and repairs existing equipment to support continuous plant operations.

Maintains equipment and machinery, performs mechanical repairs, installs and inspects piping, troubleshoot steam and pump systems, fabricates steel and sheet metal parts, and facilitates preventative/predictive maintenance programs.

• Follow safe work practices and support safety goals.
• Perform mechanical repairs on equipment, including replacement, repair, and installation of sleeves, bearings, gears, shafts, pins, etc.
• Install piping and select correct materials for each service.
• Interpret piping specifications and engineering drawings.
• Operate industrial equipment such as forklifts and hoists safely.
• Repair and install machinery, steam systems, and pumps.
• Fabricate steel and sheet metal components.
• Maintain and improve preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
• Lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or more and work at heights as required.

• Journeyman’s Card, 2‑Year Technical Degree, mechanical trade school certification, or equivalent.
• Experience in a high‑paced maintenance environment.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more with physical dexterity.
• Basic proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Workday).

• Familiarity with ISO‑9001 and Process Safety Management.
• Welder certification.
• Experience with steam systems.
• Electrical and instrumentation knowledge.
• 2–5 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing or chemical production facility.
