Two-Way Radio Field Service Technician

Job Description:

• Run field service calls during normal business hours and after hours.
• Utilize communication repair tools to diagnose equipment problems and failures.
• Triage and repair radio infrastructure, portable and mobile radios.
• Perform electronic repairs, including soldering.
• Program subscriber and system equipment as needed.
• Complete job tickets and required work documents.
• Maintain positive customer relations.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

Job Requirements:

• Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose system problems.
• Fix and maintain two‑way radio system infrastructure.
• Work well with hand tools on a bench.
• Desire for continued training and education.
• Consistent performance and attendance.
• Good customer relation skills.
• Team‑player mentality.
• Formal technical electronics training or equivalent experience.
• Experience with communications test equipment (RF generators, spectrum analyzers, watt meters, frequency meters, deviation meters, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of FCC Part 90.
• Experience with radio trunking and microwave is a plus.
• Experience with Motorola is a plus.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good driving record.
• ETA CET or FCC General Radiotelephone license is a plus; ETA certification required (B & C will provide 90 days for achievement).

• Install radio equipment, video cameras, and GPS systems into public safety and service vehicles.
• Maintain a high attention to detail and excellent customer interaction.
• Perform basic mechanical and electronics work, wiring, and use hand tools.
• Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
• Document work performed accurately.
• Communicate with customers and management.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Assist facility manager with minor maintenance tasks.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and clean BMV record.
• Mechanical background or car electronics experience.
• Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools.
• Some knowledge of electronic measuring devices.
• Adhere to personnel policies and maintain punctuality.
• Maintain valid driver’s license.
• Prior experience with installing radio and safety equipment in vehicles.
