Electrical Technician
Location:
Akron, OH
Schedule: Monday-Friday, First Shift (Overtime Available)
RJS Corporation is seeking a motivated Electrical Technician to join our Operations team. This role is responsible for installing, wiring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components used in industrial machinery and custom equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on electrical work, problem-solving, and working with both standard production equipment and custom-built machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, components, equipment, and machinery
- Connect power supply wiring and electrical control systems for industrial equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment
- Repair and replace electrical components including relays, switches, motors, bearings, and sensing devices
- Inspect equipment and electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Rewire motors and perform electrical modifications as required
- Test circuits, equipment, and system continuity using voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Support other departments and projects as needed
Qualifications
- Technical degree, certification, or vocational training preferred but not required
- Minimum six months of related electrical, maintenance, manufacturing, or industrial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to identify and resolve electrical issues efficiently
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
- Commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands and arms for tool operation and equipment handling
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
- Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and electrical systems
