Job Description
Under general supervision, determines initial and ongoing eligibility for federal and State of Ohio mandated programs, according to established criteria. May develop self-sufficiency contracts and assign clients to appropriate work activity. Utilizes interactive interview process through agency appointments, office, institutional and home visits, phone, and email. Enters information and data into
Ohio Benefits System or other authorized computer system. Obtains and/or assists with obtaining necessary verification’s and documentation. Computes budgets. Completes spousal resource assessments. Prepares and processes support documentation. Monitors and maintains case files for multiple public assistance programs. Prepares correspondence and reports. Communicates with clients on an on-going basis. Provides quality customer services to clients. Performs other related duties as requested, assigned or directed.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in social or behavioral sciences or other related discipline, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.

Work is performed in an office environment and employee will regularly be exposed to normal hazards associated with an office environment. The employee may experience a client’s anger and frustration, and close contact is possible in an unhealthy environment.
Physical Demands- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel to and access the various assigned work sites, other offices and agencies, homes and institutions.
- Job is physically comfortable. Typically requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, keying, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- May occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
- Possession of valid driver’s license, if utilization of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions is required.
- Must maintain current certifications, licenses.
- Meet and maintain eligibility requirements for bonding.
In all functions of this position the Employee must maintain confidentiality of client data, information and records. Employees may not apply for vacancies of their own currently held job classification. Internal transfers will be subject to an updated background check.
Job Duties Client Functions- Utilizes interactive interview process with applicants, clients, family members, and/or representatives, and other related parties, through agency appointments, office, institutional and home visits, phone, and email to screen and determine client’s initial and on-going eligibility
- consults with social workers/case managers, medical providers and authorized representatives to determine eligibility and evaluate support needed
- advises applicants, clients, and/or representatives of available programs, services, and requirements and community resources and assists with and coordinates determination of level of need, eligibility, and provision of services
- explains client rights and responsibilities as well as pertinent state, federal, and agency programs, rules, regulations and procedures
- assists with completion of applications when requested
- processes all referrals relating to client’s case
- responds to and processes case changes that affect client’s assistance (on-going, walk-ins)
- coordinates, monitors, and enforces client’s adherence to program guidelines
- assesses clients employability skills, experience, knowledge
- assigns clients to appropriate work program activities
