Tow Truck Driver

Summary

Responsible for the safe and efficient pickup and delivery of vehicles at customer sites to company sites.

• Drives truck in a safe manner at all times, ensuring that every trip is completed in accordance with DOT regulations, speed limits and free of accidents.
  • Responsible for monitoring road and traffic conditions at all times to prevent accidents.
  • Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck.
• Picks up and delivers vehicles to Metalico yards safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for inspecting customer vehicle to make sure it’s in agreement with the deal that was made between customer and Metalico representative.
  • Driver will be responsible for matching up customer title to VIN number and bringing title back to scale house.
  • Completes required paperwork accurately and turns in any paperwork daily to the scale with each vehicle brought in.
• Responsible for maneuvering truck at customer’s site in a safe and accident‑free manner at all times.
• Monitors mechanical functions of the truck, responsible for reporting any issues to their reporting manager or the maintenance supervisor. Ensures truck is kept clean inside and out.
• This position makes safety a top priority and looks for opportunities to improve on safety, follows all safety rules and wears appropriate PPE at all times.
• Communicates to manager any customer concerns or any other concern the driver may have.
• Communicates to manager immediately of any accidents that may have happened with or without damage or any damage done at a customer’s facility or in transit to or from yard/customer location.
• Picks up parts/ tools for maintenance.
• General labor duties will be required to be performed at the yard when tow truck services are not needed at the time.

• Clean driving record.
• Rollback flatbed towing single.
• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.
• Class C License is required.
• Must have a valid DOT medical card or be able to obtain prior to hire.
• Willingness to work.
• Good attendance.
• Must be able to work in a drug‑free workplace.
