Position: Specialist, Settlement Services )

Job Summary / Introduction

Responsible for daily monitoring and processing of settlement processes covering domestic, regional and international markets for equities, mutual funds, fixed income, hedge funds, structured funds, ETFs, and securities lending/borrowing. Ensures highest quality client service delivery per international standards.

Handles extremely complex settlement transactions across local, regional and international markets. Responsibilities include receipt of client and market/sub‑custodian instructions, validating correctness, and ensuring timely matching and settlement across all markets. Communicates with clients, counter parties, markets, sub‑custodians, regulators, companies, brokers, paying agents and issuers. Adheres to quality control measures and procedures. Provides first‑level training for new specialists and assists with inquiries. Manages cash to facilitate smooth settlements across markets.

Participates in operating modules, including securities lending and borrowing transactions of large value and complexity, ensuring successful settlement and mitigating risks.

Contributes to projects such as system upgrades, processing enhancements and off‑hour system testing. Implements settlement processing related to new client SLAs, sub‑custodian SLAs, new functions, products and market rules. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to re‑engineer processes, reduce manual activities and improve client delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily monitoring and processing of settlement processes across domestic, regional and international markets for equities, mutual funds, fixed income, hedge funds, structured funds, ETFs and securities lending/borrowing.
  • Handle complex settlement transactions, process client and market/sub‑custodian instructions, validate correctness and ensure timely settlement.
  • Track and respond to client queries, providing detailed settlement information in accordance with market rules and best practice.
  • Communicate with markets, sub‑custodians, agents, companies, depositories, brokers and issuers to ensure accurate, timely settlement.
  • Communicate trade status reports and instructions to all stakeholders promptly.
  • Maintain knowledge of settlement SWIFT messages and usage.
  • Meet deadlines and goals reliably.
  • Articulate information clearly and present effectively with confidence.
  • Build trusting relationships and challenge ideas when appropriate.
  • Participate in projects related to system changes, upgrades and new client requirements (e.g., sub‑custodian/client SLAs).
  • Review processes, suggest and implement changes to enhance client satisfaction, reduce manual intervention and lower cost.
  • Cash/FX settlement: review and validate transactions, elevate mismatches to VP, ensure accounting entries executed.
  • Position/cash management: review daily positions, reconcile with sub‑custodians and report discrepancies.
  • SWIFT: validate instructions, authorize second‑level (VP) generation.
  • Reconciliation: complete second‑level checks and report issues to VP.
  • Ad‑hoc requests: support VP on business‑as‑usual matters and projects.
  • Risk indicators: ensure controls and procedures are followed, monitor KPIs and KRIs, report incidents to VP.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, SOPs and instructions.
  • Demonstrate compliance with ethics, values and culture.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Prepare timely statements and reports to meet department requirements.
  • Ensure accurate, timely processing of client instructions and reconcile settlements, especially for high‑value transactions.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • University graduate or bachelor's degree (or 5 years related work experience).
  • 5+ years experience in security services and/or back‑office operations (e.g., securities settlements, corporate actions).
  • Solid understanding of security services operations and related accounting activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Drive to achieve business objectives while maintaining controls and risk parameters.
  • Strong execution skills in a multi‑tasking environment and effective follow‑up.
  • Self‑starter with excellent attitude, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail; excellent team working skills.
Preferred / Beneficial
  • Experience in securities-related functions such as settlement, client services, corporate actions, data maintenance & billing, or custody account opening.
