Overview
To carry out effective and efficient repair and maintenance of customer vehicles following the approved manufacturers repair techniques.
Responsibilities- Collect job orders and necessary materials, tools and equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance on customers’ vehicles according to the manufacturers repair techniques.
- Ensure accurate fault diagnosis and effective utilization of time allocated for repairs. Report to the Team Leader any delays due to parts unavailability or other reasons.
- Ensure all additional repairs are authorized; parts are booked to the repair order. In the case of warranty repair or parts exchange programs, return removed parts to the parts department in the same carton to facilitate audit processes and obtain necessary credit if applicable. For retail jobs, keep the old parts inside the vehicle except for batteries and parts that may stain the interior trim or carpet.
- Service personal tools, keep lifts and the work area clean, and comply with health and safety standards.
- Upgrade knowledge by regularly completing web‑based courses and attending classroom trainings.
- Keep all personal tools safe. Report any breakages or accidents to the Team Leader, Supervisor or tool room immediately for replacement.
- Maintain efficiency and productivity above 100%.
- Ensure proper clocking on and off in the system and write up repairs in the repair order as per procedure.
- Return or store unused parts properly; dispose of used parts in an environment‑friendly manner.
- Work extra hours if necessary to complete the job and ensure customer satisfaction as required by the Team Leader.
Education/Certification and Continued Education
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering
- Industrial Technical Institute ITI (2‑year vocational course) – Certified Auto Technician Course
Years of Experience
- 2 to 3 years experience as a technician for a Diploma holder
- 3 to 5 years experience as a technician for an ITI holder
Knowledge and Skills
- Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) certified Auto Technician Course
- Vocational Automobile Training Course
- Additional technical skills, if any, are an advantage
- Basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical skills
- Troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Attended basic technical courses from vehicle manufacturing companies
