Electrical Technician

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

Following are the minimum requirements for all resources:

• Language: Technicians shall have working level proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
• Safety:
  • Well familiar with hazardous chemicals/materials used in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical/Fertilizer industry, their hazards, and safe practices for installation/maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to QAFCO's Safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of PTW (permit to work) system in large scale industries and pass company PTW acceptance authorization post‑training assessment tests.
  • Understand and work within the framework of the company’s Maintenance, HSEQ Policy, procedures and regulations.
• Educational Background: Engineering Diploma in the respective discipline (12+3 years).
• Experience: Minimum six (6) years of relevant and hands‑on experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical/Fertilizer industry. Preferably, hands‑on experience with the Work Order part of the EAM (enterprise asset maintenance) module of SAP.

  • Familiarity with Electrical Control and Protection Systems such as PLCs, Motor Protection Relays, Feeder Protection Relays, etc.
  • Basic repairs of electrical equipment and power circuits; ability to troubleshoot complex electrical problems or breakdowns.
  • Read and interpret simple machine sketches, single line diagrams, complex control schematics and diagnostic flow charts.
  • Use and maintain all types of testing and calibration instruments, including Multimeter and Insulation Tester (Megger).
  • Knowledge of Lock‑Out Tag‑Out (LOTO).
  • Record keeping in CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
  • Good HSEQ record from past work.
  • Knowledge of Work Permits system in large scale industries.
  • Comply with company Life Saving Rules per PSa-001 Life Saving Rule Document and all relevant procedures of the Integrated Management System.

• Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
• Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems (UPS)
• Lighting
• Cathodic Protection (CP) Systems
• Hoists
• Electrical Systems of Flares
