Nucor Steel Decatur is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to support division-level accounting activities. This role is responsible for general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and upholding internal controls while supporting Nucor’s commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

• Perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Support month-end close processes and preparation of financial reports
• Assist with internal control compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
• Analyze financial data, identify issues, and perform root cause analysis
• Develop and maintain Excel-based tools to support reporting and data analysis

• 4-year B.S. Accounting/Finance; will consider other relevant degrees
• Computer Skills – Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Products
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Accounting experience in a manufacturing company
• 2 or more years of steel industry experience
• Oracle, EIS or GL Connect Experience
