Responsibilities of a PLANT CONTROLLER includes, but are not limited to, the following:

The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the manufacturing facility. This position partners closely with plant leadership to drive financial performance, ensure accurate reporting, maintain internal controls, and support operational decision‑making. The Plant Controller provides financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, inventory management, and compliance support while helping improve plant profitability and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements of a PLANT CONTROLLER:

• Manage all plant accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead spending.
• Develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts while monitoring financial performance against targets.
• Maintain and improve standard costing systems and product cost analysis.
• Partner with operations to identify cost‑saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Review capital expenditure requests and track capital projects.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities for the plant.
• Analyze production metrics, scrap, labor utilization, and manufacturing variances.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Monitor cash flow, fixed assets, and depreciation.
• Supervise plant accounting staff, if applicable.
• Collaborate with purchasing, production, quality, engineering, HR, and corporate finance teams.

REQUIRED Experience and

Education:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting and standard costing.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Plex, or similar).
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to influence operational leaders through financial insights.
