Foundation General Accountant

Summary:

This position involves professional accounting work of a moderately complex nature. This position is part of the Alabama A&M University Foundation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process and upload all payments for the AAMU Foundation
• Upload all positive pay files
• Process all payables and receivables for the AAMU Foundation Plaza
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the financial accounts at financial institutions
• Process wire transfers
• Pick up and distribute AAMU Foundation mail
• Prepare journal entries
• Process payment cancellation requests
• Review and resolve uncashed checks on a weekly basis
• Manage the virtual credit card payment system
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

• Bachelor s degree in Accounting (or related field)
• At least six months of experience with Microsoft Excel at an advanced level
• Must be available for periodic evening and weekend work

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of systems of internal controls
• Strong analytical and organization skills
• Strong comprehension skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in basic accounting principles
• Must be detail-oriented
