Location: West Jefferson
Ship Clerks play a crucial role in the Middle‑mile network by managing department activities such as load planning, load flow control, trailer utilization, and communication with internal and external partners. They provide work direction, lead meetings, and ensure that safety, quality, productivity, utilization, and on‑time performance standards are met. Ship Clerks also coordinate with transportation teams to address driver issues, trailer pool needs, and other operational barriers, escalating challenges to Operations Leaders as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate with multiple shipping companies and their contacts.
- Use shipping company software to ship and track packages.
- Schedule trailers to corresponding dock doors and cross‑docks using SSP.
- Troubleshoot shipping problems and resolve errors.
- Maximize trailer utilization to control transportation costs.
- Ensure on‑time dock performance.
- Assist in updating Staging POD 5s and resource allocation.
- Oversee load flow control for the building.
- Maintain performance tracking for load planning, on‑time dock performance, utilization, and misloads.
- Coordinate with transportation teams on driver issues, trailer pool needs, yard move delays, inbound volume, and load swaps to protect customer experience.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of shipping requirements, rules, and obligations by carrier, destination, and package type.
- Ensure safety measures and precautions are in place for docks and trailers.
- Assist the floor as a resource, train associates, and verify SOP compliance.
- Track, report, and provide feedback on associate performance.
- Participate in operational excellence initiatives in some capacity.
- Fill in as needed with production duties.
- Fully understand workflow and daily production goals.
- Review and update SOPs as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Identify and address safety hazards within the work area.
- Participate in safety initiatives.
- Report all job injuries or safety violations immediately to the Area Manager.
- At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Physical ability to lift up to 49 pounds and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, including frequent pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week, with overtime as required.
- Prior training, teaching, or presentation experience.

The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential, which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total‑compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings, including overtime pay and performance bonuses.
