Job Description

The Advisory Committee Lead provides statewide leadership for the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of Texas State Technical College’s advisory committee function. This role serves as the institutional lead for advisory committee operations, ensuring committees are established, facilitated, documented, and maintained in a manner that supports instructional relevance, workforce alignment, regulatory compliance, and employer engagement across the college.
Working collaboratively with academic leaders, Career Services, instructional programs, and industry partners, the Advisory Committee Manager develops and maintains the statewide processes, tools, timelines, and standards that support effective advisory committee operations. The role ensures committees provide meaningful feedback on industry trends, workforce needs, curriculum relevance, and employability outcomes, while also supporting compliance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board expectations for workforce education programs.
The Advisory Committee Lead serves as a senior technical professional who independently manages a complex statewide portfolio of advisory committee activities and relationships. Through project leadership, stakeholder engagement, process improvement, and disciplined operational execution, this role strengthens the consistency, effectiveness, and strategic value of advisory committees across TSTC.

Essential Functions

The employee will demonstrate TSTC’s Core Values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.

Statewide Advisory Committee Administration

Leads the statewide administration and coordination of advisory committee activities across instructional programs and campuses. Develops and maintains the operational framework, timelines, documentation standards, and meeting processes needed to support consistent and effective advisory committee operations across the institution.

Committee Facilitation & Program Support

Coordinates and facilitates advisory committee meetings in collaboration with instructional leaders, Career Services, and industry partners to ensure committees are productive, well‑organized, and aligned with institutional and programmatic priorities. Supports program teams in preparing for meetings, documenting outcomes, and following through on action items and committee recommendations.

Compliance & Standards Oversight

Ensures advisory committee processes and documentation align with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board requirements and institutional expectations related to workforce education programs. Maintains current knowledge of applicable standards, monitors committee records and practices for compliance, and provides guidance to internal stakeholders on committee requirements and expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management

Builds and maintains productive working relationships with employers, industry representatives, instructional leaders, and other institutional stakeholders to support strong advisory committee participation and meaningful industry engagement. Serves as a central point of contact for advisory committee communication and coordination across the college.

Project Management & Operational Execution

Manages multiple concurrent advisory committee projects, priorities, and deadlines related to meeting schedules, communications, reporting, documentation, and follow‑up activities. Coordinates meeting logistics, committee records, volunteer support, and operational deliverables to ensure timely and effective execution across the statewide committee portfolio.

Data, Reporting & Documentation

Maintains advisory committee records, meeting documentation, participation data, and related reports to support institutional accountability and operational visibility. Collects, organizes, and analyzes committee activity data and feedback to identify trends, inform improvements, and support leadership reporting.
