Mechanical Construction Superintendent Position SummaryThe Mechanical Construction Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all
mechanical
activities and managing
mechanical subcontractors
. This includes overseeing the installation of heavy equipment such as steelmaking and process equipment, conveyors, cranes, vessels, etc. The role involves participating in the conceptual development of construction projects, and managing their organization, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
- Supervise construction activities in the field.
- Take overall responsibility for project execution of assigned projects.
- Promote, enforce, and prioritize safety.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to facilitate construction progress.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate
mechanical
activities to meet deadlines. - Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
- Inspect or review projects to ensure compliance with building and safety codes and regulations.
- Review change order requests for validity and assist in presenting them to the owner.
- Quote new work by preparing detailed bids.
- Report productivity and activities to the project management team.
- Review and approve subcontractor billings and manage client payables.
- Manage all aspects of client interaction and communication.
- Oversee the project closeout process.
- Work overtime as required and maintain punctual attendance.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing
mechanical
projects. Experience in installing Steel or Aluminum process equipment is preferred. Good oral communication skills are essential. Knowledge of company safety policies and willingness to comply with the Quality Control program are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary; experience with Primavera Scheduling software is a plus.
Overtime is routinely required. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds occasionally and stand/walk frequently. This is a full-time onsite position, which may involve temporary travel for extended periods. All listed physical demands are essential functions.
