Are you a visual storyteller who lives for the rush of breaking news? Do you have an eye for powerful images and the "go‑getter" energy to be the first on the scene? We’re looking for a Photojournalist/Editor at KWQC who is passionate about the Quad Cities and ready to own the story, whether it’s capturing a massive breaking news event, running a flawless live shot, or getting content to our digital team before the competition even arrives.

If you’re ready to move fast and make an impact across every screen, we want to talk to you.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Own the lens: Capture compelling, high‑quality visuals and sound that bring stories to life for our audience in the Quad Cities.
  • Drive breaking news: Respond with urgency to developing stories, getting on the scene quickly and safely to provide real‑time coverage.
  • Master the live shot: Set up and execute live shots for broadcast and digital streaming, ensuring our viewers are right there with us as news happens.
  • Edit with impact: Use non‑linear editing tools to craft tight, engaging stories for our newscasts and digital platforms under tight deadlines.
  • Feed the digital beast: Work closely with our digital team to get video, photos, and updates out to our apps and social media channels instantly.
  • Collaborate like a pro: Partner with reporters and producers to ensure every story is visually strong and editorially sound.
  • Maintain the gear: Take pride in your equipment, ensuring cameras, vehicles, and editing systems are always mission‑ready.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • A "go‑getter" mindset: You don't wait for the news to come to you; you go find it with a high sense of urgency.
  • Visual storytelling chops: You have a strong eye for composition and a knack for finding the "human" element in every frame.
  • Technical proficiency: Experience with professional cameras, non‑linear editing (like Edius or Adobe Premiere), and live‑shot technology.
  • Digital‑first speed: You understand that "news happens now" and you’re committed to getting content online quickly.
  • Quad Cities passion: You care about this community and want to tell the stories that matter to the people who live here.
  • Cool under pressure: You thrive in the chaos of breaking news and can deliver high‑quality work when the clock is ticking.
  • Flexibility: News doesn't follow a 9-to-5 schedule; you’re ready to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as the story demands.
