The Department of Professional Counseling and Leadership invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Instructional Leadership. This faculty member will teach graduate and doctoral‑level coursework within the Instructional Leadership program and contribute substantively to the Doctorate of Educational Leadership (EdD). The successful candidate must hold a valid Alabama Instructional Leadership certificate or an equivalent credential and demonstrate experience supporting doctoral candidates through dissertation development, research design, and scholarly writing.
The position emphasizes practitioner‑scholar preparation, applied research, leadership development, and collaborative service.
This position requires the following qualifications:
- Earned doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Instructional Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field
- Valid Alabama Instructional Leadership certificate or equivalent leadership credential or the ability to earn an Alabama certification
- Experience in P–12 educational leadership
- Demonstrated experience supporting doctoral research and dissertation development
The department will give priority to applicants who have:
- Experience teaching in graduate and doctoral leadership programs
- Experience chairing or serving on dissertation committees
- Experience with online or hybrid doctoral instruction
- Evidence of scholarly publications or applied research
The position has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.
