POSITION SUMMARY:
The Elementary Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction aligned to district-adopted curriculum and the Colorado Academic Standards. This position supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students by creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student growth, positive behavior, and achievement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize effective instructional practices to teach district-adopted curriculum so that students meet grade-level expectations and standards.
- Modify and tailor instruction to address individual student differences, learning styles, and abilities.
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning activities appropriate for the grade level they teach and range of learners within their classroom.
- Utilize adopted instructional materials and appropriate supplemental resources, media, and technology.
- Administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning, achievement, and performance, and report results in accordance with district and school procedures.
- Use assessment data to provide meaningful feedback, adjust instruction, and support continuous student growth.
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and behavior support plans as required.
Classroom Environment, Safety & Student Well-Being
- Establish and maintain an orderly, positive, and inclusive classroom environment free from disruptive behavior.
- Implement proactive classroom management strategies and enforce the Student Conduct Code consistently.
- Supervise students at all times to ensure safety, including during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, field trips, and transportation loading and unloading.
- Provide safety instruction when activities, materials, or equipment pose potential risk and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Model, promote, and provide instruction in character education, including citizenship, respect for self and others, responsible behavior, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and positive work habits.
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, support personnel, and administrators to enhance instruction and student outcomes.
- Participate actively in team, building, and district meetings and professional learning opportunities.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and needs.
- Participate in student and family conferences and other meetings as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development.
- Ability to develop and implement engaging lessons aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards.
- Ability to utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning.
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with completion of an approved teacher licensure program.
- Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate elementary endorsement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous teaching experience in an elementary school.
