Job DescriptionINSTRUCTIONAL AIDE
Qualifications- Comply with all employment criteria established by the Lee County Board of Education.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least an associate’s degree, 60 college credits, or an approved Work Keys score meeting ESSA standards.
- Effective communication with students and staff using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Computer skills and ability to learn new software.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
- Other qualifications the Board may deem appropriate.
Background Check
Required:
(HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature) Fingerprints required for background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and FBI.
Assist certificated teachers in reinforcing instruction to individuals or small groups, monitor and report student progress, perform clerical duties supporting the academic program, and other related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Attend regularly and punctually.
- Complete assigned tasks safely and maintain alertness.
- Uphold Board policies, including the anti-harassment program.
- Collaborate with students, teachers, staff, supervisors, and the public.
- Work efficiently within time and productivity standards.
- Support and maintain classroom policies.
- Tutor small groups or individuals, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
- Assist in administering and scoring tests.
- Perform routine clerical duties and operate classroom and office equipment.
- Set up work areas, displays, and educational equipment and manage supplies.
- Communicate student progress daily with instructional team.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Assume supervisory role over students when the teacher is absent.
- Provide guidance and emotional support to students.
- Coordinate with teachers regarding programs and materials.
- Assist in using computer programs for diagnostic purposes.
- Direct group activities and monitor students as directed.
- Participate in meetings and training to develop new skills.
- Perform any other assignment that supports classroom effectiveness.
The job requires standing, walking, sitting, and reaching with hands and arms. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 60 pounds. Approximately 34% sitting, 33% walking, 33% standing. Exposure to potential injury risks, illnesses, and typical classroom environments.
Environmental DemandsExposure to childhood and adult diseases, weather conditions, heated/air‑conditioned spaces, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise level environments.
EmploymentContract:
nine‑month (182 days). Salary based on current schedule, prorated for remaining school calendar.
Up to 7.5 hours per day, excluding 30‑minute duty‑free lunch. The building principal determines the exact schedule.
EvaluationPerformance evaluated per the Board’s policy on evaluation of Support Personnel.
Compensation$21,303 to $23,902 per year.
