Position: Instructor, Welding (Bridge)
Location: Wallace

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the division director, the associate dean, and/or the Dean, Instructional Affairs, the instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures, providing competent classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places to meet student demand.

Salary

Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D-1 IC for 9 months (range: $41,282 to $66,891). Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IC for 3 months $12,746 - $20,693). Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College.

Location & Start Date

Position will be based initially at Wallace Campus in Dothan, Alabama. Anticipated start date:
August 13, 2026. More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position if another vacancy occurs during the search process.

Essential Functions

Instruction

  • Demonstrates a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.
  • Displays an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline.
  • Connects their subject matter with related fields.
  • Teaches a course load appropriate to their field or discipline.
  • Plans and organizes instruction to maximize documented student learning.
  • Employs appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
  • Modifies instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Encourages the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Contributes to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives.
  • Evaluates and utilizes classroom statistical data, course evaluations, and actual classroom success data.
  • Incorporates core competencies into program or discipline content.
  • Develops, updates, and posts course syllabi in a timely manner.
  • Uses instructional time wisely to meet course objectives.
  • Stays current in their subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, or workshops.
  • Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.
  • Student Learning

  • Establishes meaningful learning outcomes for courses/programs.
  • Develops and explains methods that fairly measure student progress toward learning outcomes.
  • Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently and returns student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
  • Returns student assignments and tests in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student progress and submits final grade rosters each semester according to established deadlines.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
  • Maintains action plans based on data to support constant improvement in the instructional process.
  • Support of College Policies and Procedures

  • Teaches classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment as needed.
  • Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility for colleagues and students.
  • Serves as faculty advisor within the current College advisement system.
  • Prepares, distributes, and submits syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information.
  • Substitutes for other instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence.
  • Exercises stewardship of College facilities and materials.
  • Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities

  • Serves on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned.
  • Participates in meetings and events required by the college, division, and program administrators.
  • Responds promptly to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.
  • Supports both part‑time and full‑time colleagues.
  • Contributes to program and division curriculum development processes.
  • Participates in graduation ceremonies.
  • Provides attendance data as required.
  • Contribution to Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs

  • Maintains familiarity with College goals, mission, and long‑range plans.
  • Contributes to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels.
