Position: Secondary Education Teacher – English Language Arts Teacher (Loachapoka High School)
Salary: $48,629 – $96,819 per year
Job Type: Full‑time, nine‑month contract (187 days)
Reports to: Principal
Starting Date: Jul 30, 2026
Job GoalsHelp students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
Qualifications- Must comply with all employment criteria established by the Lee County Board of Education.
- Hold an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
- Meet the suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002‑457.
- Possess a demonstrated aptitude for completing assigned tasks effectively.
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Attend work regularly, arriving 15 minutes before school opens and remaining 15 minutes after close.
- Teach assigned classes at designated times and locations.
- Develop a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Maintain appropriate discipline and assist in school‑wide discipline efforts.
- Prepare for classes, providing evidence of preparation upon request.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law, board policy, and regulations.
- Evaluate student progress regularly according to established procedures.
- Seek specialist assistance and make referrals as needed.
- Protect students and safeguard equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Be available for student and parent communication outside instructional hours as agreed.
- Collaborate with staff on school activities, instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Participate in extracurricular activities as agreed.
- Attend faculty meetings regularly.
- Maintain professional relationships with parents and community.
- Promote good public relations for the schools and the system.
- Improve professional competence.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the principal.
Frequently lift/move up to 20 pounds; occasionally 25 pounds. Required vision: close, distance, depth perception, focus adjustment. Physical actions include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, and balancing. Environmental exposures include disease, weather, chemicals, and moderate noise.
