Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Valid Alabama certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal or Professional School Principal, or Administration and Supervision.
  • Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience and/or administrative experience.
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates commitment to and support for the vision and the mission of the system and school.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs and activities at the assigned school.
  • Assists the principal in providing an atmosphere conducive to learning and teaching.
  • Assists in coordinating the selection and acquisition of instructional materials and equipment.
  • Assists in coordinating and supervising all testing programs at the school.
  • Assists the principal in selecting, supervising, and evaluating school-based personnel.
  • Assists the principal in developing and coordinating policies and procedures for the operation of the school program and services.
  • Facilitates the implementation of the code of student conduct in accordance with school and system policy to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of an effective staff development program.
  • Assists in overseeing programs for students with identified special needs, e.g., Special Education, ESOL, and 504.
  • Assists in developing and implementing family and community involvement programs and business partnerships.
  • Analyzes student performance data as a basis for curriculum improvement and staff development needs.
  • Assists in the selection and supervision of substitute personnel.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the school budget.
  • Assists in managing student accounting and attendance procedures.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of required reports and maintains all appropriate records.
  • Counsels with students, parents, and staff to resolve problems and concerns.
  • Maintains visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at school-related activities and extracurricular events.
  • Collaborates with school and system personnel in planning and implementing system initiatives.
  • Assists in developing and implementing positive public relations for the school.
  • Assists the principal in the development and implementation of procedures for dealing with school crises.
  • Investigates student accidents and other incidents and takes appropriate action.
  • Aids with the local school guidance program.
  • Assists in the development of the school’s master schedule.
  • Assists in the supervision loading and loading of buses.
  • Improve skills and knowledge through in-service and other professional development programs.
  • Assumes other reasonable job‑related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies governing education in state and system.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instructional programs, and best practices for the appropriate level.
  • Willingness to learn budgetary and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with people effectively.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities.
  • Ability to use data in the decision‑making process.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups toward task accomplishment.
  • Ability to facilitate problem‑solving by individuals and groups.
  • Ability to use technology resources in records, management, curriculum, and the total school program.
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks.
  • Demonstrates high standards of professional conduct.
  • Terms of Employment

    Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Salary Schedule may be viewed online at the Human Resources tab. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

    Evaluation

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
