Role OverviewThe Clinical Coordinator plans, coordinates, and conducts clinical experiences for nursing students. The Coordinator oversees the operation of the nursing division, including development, preparation, curricular revision, communication among students, and problem solving. They collaborate with faculty to include course development, policies, course objectives, program outcomes, and ensuring optimal learning experiences for students in the clinical setting.
Responsibilities- Develop, prepare, and manage clinical placement rotations and apprenticeship opportunities for the nursing program.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty to secure appropriate clinical groups.
- Attend meetings, present agenda items relevant to clinical placement, schedule, and compliance requirements.
- Create, process, and monitor student clinical records.
- Collect and track academic, immunization, health insurance, background, training, and other necessary verification.
- Train students and faculty on proper submission of information (Clin Prep).
- Verify that faculty and students have completed necessary immunizations and site-specific training for clinical placements.
- Share records with work-based learning sites.
- Complete annual placement grids based on department needs and alignment of student learning outcomes.
- Track and match clinical practice experience, settings, and specific patient encounters as indicated by department policy, law, and/or accreditation standards.
- Efficiently use Exxat.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of approved clinical affiliation agreements.
- Maintain up-to-date placement data for faculty on a regular basis.
- Ensure program compliance with the Alabama Board of Nursing, ACEN, and ACCS.
- Establish clinical partnerships, write agreements, collect evaluations, and process data for analysis.
- Assist with nursing program accreditation reviews, self‑study elements, and compliance.
- Utilize secured online document management, learning, and certification systems to verify student criteria for clinical placement.
- Comply with all HIPAA and FERPA requirements for managing confidential student records for clinical placement.
- Participate in program and curriculum reviews.
- Participate in nursing department meetings.
- Maintain office hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate effectively with faculty.
- Communicate effectively with all faculty, administrative staff and technical support staff.
- Network with other educators at local, state, national levels to develop and utilize best practices.
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, meeting deadlines and ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Remain current in discipline and instructional methods through professional development activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with internet, email, and computer software.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Documented expertise in current educational technologies (Word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software) and willingness to develop new tools.
- Understanding of varied student abilities in an open admissions college and ability to accommodate varied learning styles.
- Ability to deal effectively with diverse students, employees, and the public.
- Commitment to all students, including diverse ages, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Understanding and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Alabama Community College System (ACCS).
- Demonstrated success in problem solving.
- Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
- Provide clinical supervision at varied times and places and formats based on student demand.
- Evaluate student progress in all classes per institutional and departmental criteria.
