OverviewThe primary role and purpose of a teacher is to provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Teachers help students develop the skills necessary to be productive members of society.
Applicants for certificated positions must provide a complete list of prior school employers and, if applicable, part‑time or substitution work. Employment history will be verified unless instructions otherwise are given.
Responsibilities- Design, write, and implement lesson plans that conform to the charter’s curriculum, ensuring they are available for review.
- Ensure lesson plans reflect modifications for differing student learning styles and adhere to California Department of Education guidelines, charter policies, and administrative regulations.
- Implement appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology to support diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with special education teachers on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet all required modifications.
- Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirements for instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Produce and oversee teacher aide and volunteer assignments.
- Use technology to strengthen the instructional process and enhance learning outcomes.
- Help students assess and improve study methods and habits; design and administer formal and informal assessments.
- Coordinate extracurricular duties and sponsor outside activities approved by the charter principal.
- Serve as a role model, supporting the mission of the charter.
- Prepare and maintain the classroom environment to promote learning and student development.
- Control student behavior in accordance with the student handbook, ensuring safety and appropriate measures.
- Provide input on book, equipment, and material selection.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, principals, teachers, and community members.
- Participate actively in faculty meetings and staff committees as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in subject matter (BA or BS).
- California Commission on Teacher Credentialing credential, certificate, permit, or equivalent documentation.
- Highly qualified in core courses as defined by NCLB and Credentialing Requirements.
- Understanding of assigned subjects.
- Team player with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, and ability to manage student behavior effectively.
