Job Summary

The Ready to Work (RTW) Program serves pre-college, college, and post-college students who are receiving Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K‑TAP) benefits. Before applying, students must contact the Ready to Work Coordinator to determine eligibility. For inquiries, contact Winston Leadingham at .

The program can help with:

  • Paid work experience on and off campus
  • Counseling, advising, and mentoring
  • Referrals to community resources
  • Job references and referrals
  • Job readiness, life skills, and academic success seminars

The work‑study component of Ready to Work provides work opportunities on both on‑campus and off‑campus through work‑study programs. Students in the program gain experience while earning extra income that will not reduce their K‑TAP benefits. Placement of work‑study students with both private and non‑profit employers helps prepare them for the workplace by allowing them to gain work experience, job retention skills, and earn extra income.

Job Duties

On‑campus: work in student service offices, labs, and various other campus departments.

Off‑campus: work in local elementary schools, small businesses, non‑profit businesses, and various community service positions. All work assignments are aimed at the student’s area of study for on‑the‑job experience.

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for the Ready to Work Program, students must be enrolled in school and receive K‑TAP benefits.

Kentucky State Law requires state and national pre‑employment background checks as a condition of employment.

Equal Opportunity Statement

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System is an equal educational and employment opportunity institution.
