Job Summary
Jackson County Board of Education announces the following vacancies. Applications should be submitted through the Hire True Website. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
Hollywood School
- Anticipated 50% Counselor / 50% Teacher
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual local school guidance and counseling plan in accordance with standards set forth by the State Plan and commensurate with the local system plan. Provide individual and group counseling and guidance. Provide orientation for new students and parents/guardians. Consult with parents/guardians, teachers, and staff concerning the special needs of students and make appropriate referrals. Coordinate student admissions, orientation, and class scheduling.
Coordinate, analyze, and interpret test results to provide information about educational, vocational, and personal/social needs. Assist with placement and follow-up services for students. Assist students in selecting programs of study to enhance career planning. Provide information and resource services for students, parents/guardians, and faculty. Assist students in building self-esteem and developing decision-making, problem-solving, and positive human relations skills. Plan with teachers, principal, parents/guardians, and students steps for modifying student behavior.
Utilize community resources in addressing the needs of students. Provide data concerning student needs to determine curricula development. Coordinate state mandated student tests. Maintain comprehensive records and reports. Exhibit positive human-relations skills. Any and other essential functions assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Teacher Essential Duties Establish objectives and plan learning experiences based on individual and class needs. Implement activities using various techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an atmosphere conducive to learning. Exhibit positive human relations skills. Evaluate the educational program and/or student progress. Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups. Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication.
Maintain and submit required records and reports. Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Plan and accomplish personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership. All teachers will model the student dress code by example. Grades/Attendance/ Lesson plans updated in a timely manner. Any and other essential functions assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
M.S. degree with proper State of Alabama Certification 3 years teaching experience
