Location: Linden
TITLE:
Federal Program/Special Education Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1. Valid Alabama State Department of Education certification in instructional leadership/administration
- 2. Experience or demonstrated aptitude for planning and budgeting project proposals and for clear writing
- 3. Ability to supervise and evaluate designated personnel, manage budgets, and develop curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students with disabilities
- 3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Superintendent JOB GOAL:
To utilize federal funding opportunities to as great advantage as possible to benefit the educational excellence of the district’s programs, facilities, and personnelPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Conducts in-service education workshops in the writing of performance objectives, the drafting of project proposals, and the interpretation of specifications for federal funding.
- 2. Evaluates projects proposed by members of the staff for their relevance to the district’s plan and needs, and their eligibility for federal funding.
- 3. Assume final responsibility for the writing of all proposals and the filing of all application for federal moneys.
- 4. Evaluates all federally funded projects in operation on a regular basis.
- 5. Disseminates project information, as appropriate, to the staff and the public at large
- 6. Remains up to date on changing laws and requirements regarding federal funds available to the schools.
- 7. Prepares for the superintendent an annual report concerning the district’s involvements with federally funded projects.
- 8. Prepares and maintains budget for system’s allotted federal funds
- 9. Provides leadership in developing and promoting the mission and vision of the exceptional education services.
- 10. Disseminates information about the latest laws, research, and trends in special education to teachers, principals, and other stakeholders
- 11. Provides appropriate advice on application and interpretation of exceptional educational laws, policies and procedures.
- 12. Directs processes for mandated timeline compliance, reporting, and record management, including data entry and submission for ALSDE database programs and any other required program information.
- 13. Coordinates 504 Plans and Homebound services according to federal law and board policy
- 14. Assists with program evaluations, operations, management, and strategic planning for system’s gifted student education program.
- 15. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Superintendent.
