About UsThe NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.
Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Pasquotank Correctional In situation is a Close/Minimum facility housing male inmates.
KnowledgeSkills and Abilities
/Management Preferences
The main purpose of this position is to administer and manage institutional training for all certified and non - certified staff to ensure compliance with policy to include re-certification for certified personnel and certification of new employees. Duties include planning and development of training calendars and lesson plans; assessment and identification of training needs; notifications and monitoring of training delivered; coordination and conducting training classes;
documentation and record keeping for all training activities to include entering training into the Learning Management System (LMS). This position also conducts New Hire Orientation Training for all newly hired staff to ensure new staff are oriented to DPS policy and procedures. This position must work well with staff as well as other training professionals within NCDAC and the Community College System.
This position serves as a General Instructor and be willing to obtain specialized training certifications as defined by NCDAC Policy and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. This position will report directly to the Administrative Services Manager.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
- Documented proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Documented ability to use computer for data entry
- Documented composition and communication skills (written and oral)
