I&C Technician
This role focuses on supporting and maintaining instrumentation and control systems within a plant environment. The I&C Technician configures and troubleshoots Distributed Control Systems, Turbine Control Systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The position requires strong technical aptitude in electronics and control systems, the ability to understand complex plant and boiler controls, and the readiness to respond to call-out responsibilities on a rotating basis, including holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Turbine Control Systems (TCS), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to support reliable plant operations.
- Support electronics, instrumentation, and plant electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient performance of plant equipment.
- Assist in the configuration and programming of control systems to optimize plant processes and maintain compliance with operational requirements.
- Interpret and understand plant systems and boiler control logic to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance teams in a team-oriented environment to resolve instrumentation and control issues.
- Utilize strong problem-solving skills to make sound decisions with limited information in time-sensitive situations.
- Respond to call-out responsibilities on a rotating weekly basis, including holidays and weekends, to address urgent instrumentation and control needs.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to document work performed and convey technical information clearly.
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Experience with Turbine Control Systems (TCS).
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Experience with electronics, instrumentation, program configuration, and plant electrical maintenance.
- Ability to understand plant systems and boiler controls.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions with limited information.
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Willingness and availability to participate in rotating weekly call-out responsibilities, including holidays and weekends.
Skills & Qualifications
- Four-year degree, two-year technical certification, and/or an associate degree in electronics preferred, or equivalent experience required.
- ABET-accredited degree required for candidates applying at the Engineer level.
- Experience with Emerson Ovation control systems preferred.
- Experience with GE Mark VIe or similar turbine control platforms is a plus.
This position is fully onsite in a plant setting and requires regular presence in operational and maintenance areas. The role involves working around plant equipment, control rooms, and boiler systems, where attention to safety and adherence to plant procedures is essential. The schedule includes rotating weekly call-out responsibilities, which may require responding to issues during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support continuous plant operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Wilsonville, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
