I&C Technician
The I&C Technician supports safe and reliable plant operations by installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining instrumentation, control systems, and plant electrical equipment. This role works closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure that Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Turbine Control Systems (TCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and related control platforms operate efficiently and accurately. The technician interprets plant systems and boiler controls, applies strong problem-solving skills, and makes sound decisions with limited information while supporting continuous plant performance.
Responsibilities- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Turbine Control Systems (TCS), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Support plant electrical maintenance activities related to instrumentation, controls, and associated equipment.
- Configure and maintain control system programs and logic to support safe and efficient plant operations.
- Work with operations and engineering teams to understand and optimize plant systems and boiler controls.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in electronics, instrumentation, and control systems using strong problem-solving skills.
- Utilize experience with Emerson Ovation and GE Mark VIe (or similar turbine control platforms) to maintain and improve system reliability, where applicable.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate maintenance and operational activities.
- Participate in a rotating call-out schedule, including holidays and weekends, to respond to plant needs and support continuous operation.
- Make informed decisions under time constraints and with limited information to maintain safe and reliable plant performance.
- Follow established procedures, safety standards, and best practices while performing all instrumentation and control work.
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Experience with Turbine Control Systems (TCS).
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Experience with electronics, instrumentation, program configuration, and plant electrical maintenance.
- Ability to understand plant systems and boiler controls.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions with limited information.
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Willingness and availability for call-out responsibilities on a rotating weekly basis, including holidays and weekends.
Skills & Qualifications
- Four-year degree, two-year technical certification, and/or an associate degree in electronics preferred, or equivalent experience required.
- ABET-accredited degree required for candidates applying as Engineers.
- Experience with Emerson Ovation control systems preferred.
- Experience with GE Mark VIe (or similar GE turbine control systems) is a plus.
This is an onsite role at a power plant facility that operates continuously to support critical operations. The position requires regular presence in an industrial environment around plant systems, boiler controls, and electrical equipment. The technician participates in a rotating call-out schedule and must be willing and available to respond to plant needs during nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Work involves hands-on interaction with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Turbine Control Systems (TCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and platforms such as Emerson Ovation and GE Mark VIe, in coordination with plant operations and maintenance teams.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Wilsonville, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
