The Quality Inspector will be responsible for verifying that composite, electro‑mechanical parts and assembled hardware meet drawing, bill of materials, models, specifications, and work procedures through review of product build documentation and end‑item data packages to determine if as‑built meets as‑designed. Other duties may include performing receiving inspection, calibration of standard inspection equipment, and setting up and measuring parts using standard measuring equipment.

Applicant must be able to work in a fast‑paced R&D environment with minimal supervision.

Main Tasks
  • Generate nonconformance reports for discrepancies discovered during inspection processes.
  • Perform audits of work areas to ensure compliance with AS9100 and Company procedures.
  • Use precision inspection techniques to inspect products, processes and procured items to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Develop and execute audit plans to assure the processes are being followed, equipment is being maintained and calibrated and materials meet all requirements including shelf life. Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or operations team in the set up and calibration of equipment and tooling.
  • Examines painted and/or coated parts, assemblies, and subassemblies visually for conformance with drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor and report on material logs, including freezer and out time records for composite materials.
  • Direct communication with customers and DCMA as needed, while infrequent, clear, and concise presentation of data and explanation of Quality Assurance methods in these communications is required.
  • Ability to create set ups for accurate inspections with little to no assistance
Requirements/Skill Set
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Quality Assurance in aerospace — defense industry, relevant experience in Electrical or Mechanical field of work in performance of technical job function may be considered if also in aerospace — defense.
  • Associates (2 year) degree in engineering discipline or non-technical 4-year degree from accredited institute — High School degree with relevant experience in aerospace — defense industry may be considered.
  • Experience with standard hand‑held gauges and measurement instruments — mechanical & electrical is required with CMM and/or laser tracker systems [stationary or articulated arm type] considered a plus.
  • Composite materials product inspection experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting drawings, GD&T per ANSI Y14.5 [Y14.41 preferred but not required], assembly schematics, and specifications in inspection of complex aerospace hardware and prepare hand‑written or computer‑generated inspection reports.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic condition on the floor with startup activity for the facility and individual programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; an ability to develop documentation clearly conveying non‑conformances and process history for internal and external use is a key position requirement.
  • Ability to work in cross‑functional team and international settings.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality systems, AS5553 counterfeit prevention, and AS9102 first article inspection preferred.
