The Production Engineer will be responsible for production support in our Decatur, AL facility. The successful individual in this role must be a creative, solutions-oriented engineer that take’s ownership of manufacturing processes to drive world class Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance into the business.
Main Tasks:- Define the methods of manufacture for composite structures and optimize existing processes utilizing lean manufacturing principles
- Work cross-functionally with operations, quality, design engineering, and other teams to define manufacturing work instructions, equipment, tools, materials, and training.
- Support continuous improvements in a variety of manufacturing processes to deliver customer quality, cost, and demand requirements.
- Actively support, coach, and empower the production technicians through hands‑on support utilizing an integrated project team approach.
- Establishes standard work activities across manufacturing processes and eliminates waste to increase productivity.
- Develops and verifies new jigs, tooling, equipment, parts, and processes to meet drawing requirements.
- Actively participates in the change management process as it relates to their respective manufacturing process, driving and implementing process / design changes.
- Utilizes project management techniques / tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
- B.S. degree in a related Engineering field or extensive relevant experience
- Must demonstrate 5 years of previous hands‑on experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrates knowledge of quality and safety standards including OSHA standards, ISO 9001, and AS9100.
- Previous composite, non-metallic, or carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP)
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experience
- Space or Aerospace experience
- Previous experience with SAP
