Process Technology Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Process Technology Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.

Overview

The role involves developing and maintaining effective technology, leading projects to optimize process and product capabilities, and improving quality, productivity, and cost efficiency within highly automated hot dip galvanizing lines.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining an effective technical team responsible for hot dip galvanizing technology and development.
• Leading major improvement projects to enhance process and product capabilities, throughput, cost, energy, and environmental performance.
• Providing technical support for all galvanizing units, reporting process performance to senior management, and managing statistical systems that define product and process capabilities.
• Demonstrating company values of safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability.
• Fulfilling commitments to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
• Achieving quality commitments and fostering an environment of trust and respect among team members.
• Maintaining knowledge of ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Background in major steel mill processes and products, with in-depth knowledge of hot dip galvanizing processes and technology.
• Knowledge of steel strip properties and applications, heat and mass transfer, combustion, chemical reactions, metallurgy of steels.
• Understanding control systems, instrumentation, process models.
• Advanced technical knowledge of hot dip galvanizing and flat carbon products, preferred.
• Strong teamwork and hands-on approach.
• Advanced skills in data analysis, statistics, design of experiments, and data modeling are strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to develop technical presentations and communicate effectively.
• Proficiency in handling a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.
• High degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
